Job Title: CNC Machinist
Job Description
The CNC Machinist operates vertical milling machines to produce high-quality parts and components while maintaining precision, safety, and efficiency. This role focuses on programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment, including interpreting and editing G-Code, performing tooling changes, and supporting light maintenance and machine upkeep in a heavy manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Operate vertical milling machines to produce precise parts and components according to specifications and blueprints.
Program, set up, and operate CNC machines using G-Code, ensuring accurate and efficient machining operations.
Interpret and edit existing G-Code programs to optimize performance and ensure parts meet dimensional and quality requirements.
Perform tooling changes and changeovers to support different jobs and production runs.
Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and CAD/CAM outputs to determine machining requirements.
Monitor machining operations, troubleshoot issues, and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
Perform light maintenance and upkeep on CNC machines and related equipment to ensure reliable operation.
Inspect finished parts for accuracy and quality, using appropriate measuring tools and inspection methods.
Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area in a heavy manufacturing environment.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and continuous improvement goals.
Essential Skills
Hands-on experience operating vertical milling machines.
Ability to understand and edit G-Code for CNC programming and machining operations.
Proficiency in performing tooling changes and changeovers on CNC machines.
Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints and mechanical drawings.
Troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving machining and equipment issues.
Mechanical aptitude for working with CNC machinery and related equipment.
Experience with CNC machining processes, including milling and grinding.
Familiarity with CAD/CAM outputs as they relate to machining operations.
Ability to work safely and effectively in a heavy manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience performing maintenance and upkeep on CNC machines.
Experience in setting up and tearing down of CNC equipment and jobs.
Exposure to grinding operations and related machining processes.
Comfort working with various tooling and changeover procedures.
Experience using CAD/CAM systems to support machining activities.

Work Environment
This role is based in a heavy manufacturing environment with CNC machining equipment and vertical milling machines. The position is on second shift, with typical hours of either 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., and there is flexibility for employees to choose their start time within these options. You work around industrial machinery, tooling, and mechanical equipment, following safety procedures and maintaining a clean, organized work area appropriate for a production floor.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $31.00/hr.
