Position Summary
Teachers First is seeking a Technology Teacher for The Gaming and Technology Academy of Saginaw (GATA), a new public school opening in Fall 2026. GATA is designed to provide a highly engaging educational experience where academics, technology, creativity, competition, and real-world learning come together through gamified systems, hands-on experiences, and strong student relationships.
The Technology Teacher will be responsible for fostering student interest in learning while supporting academic achievement and technology literacy. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of Michigan Academic Standards, instructional best practices, and effective classroom management techniques while helping students prepare for future educational and career opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with Michigan Academic Standards and school curriculum goals.
- Utilize technology to enhance instruction and differentiate learning experiences.
- Encourage, monitor, and evaluate student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed.
- Provide additional support and intervention for students who require assistance mastering content.
- Collaborate with fellow educators to develop curriculum and improve instructional practices.
- Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding academic progress and student needs.
- Establish and communicate clear learning objectives for all classroom activities.
- Maintain a positive classroom environment through effective behavior management and consistent procedures.
- Enforce school policies and disciplinary procedures.
- Utilize formative, summative, and interim assessment data to guide instruction.
- Develop classroom assessments that accurately measure student proficiency and growth.
- Participate in school initiatives and contribute to the development of GATA's innovative educational model.
Qualifications
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement(s) for the subject area being taught.
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience.
- Must meet Highly Qualified Teacher requirements as defined by applicable state and federal guidelines.
- Ability to develop and deliver curriculum for assigned grade levels.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills.
