Position Summary
The Quality Inspector is responsible for evaluating incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and internal quality standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity and performance of products used in demanding aerospace applications.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical inspection skills with a meticulous eye for detail and a commitment to producing exceptional work.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret work orders, engineering drawings, blueprints, and inspection instructions
- Inspect raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods for conformance to specifications
- Perform detailed visual inspections and dimensional checks
- Utilize measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges
- Inspect plastic injection molded components for cosmetic and dimensional accuracy
- Conduct functional testing of assemblies and components
- Document inspection results and maintain organized quality records
- Identify and segregate nonconforming materials and products
- Communicate findings clearly to production and engineering teams
- Assist with root cause analysis and corrective action efforts
- Support quality policies, procedures, and work instructions
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of two years of experience in mechanical or manufacturing inspection
- Strong blueprint and engineering drawing interpretation skills
- Experience performing visual inspections to defined appearance standards
- Knowledge of plastic injection molding and molded part inspection preferred
- Experience using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers highly desirable
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality
Preferred Background
