Define and implement the company's research strategy, ensuring it supports the overall business objectives and drives innovation. Identify key research opportunities and emerging trends that could benefit the company. Lead, mentor, and manage research teams to ensure high performance, productivity, and professional growth. Establish clear goals and performance metrics for research projects and team members. Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of research programs and projects, ensuring they are conducted effectively and efficiently. Manage research resources and budgets, optimizing allocation to maximize impact. Collaborate with other departments such as Product Development, Marketing, and Strategy to ensure research efforts align with business needs and priorities. Communicate research findings and insights effectively to senior management and other stakeholders. Lead or support battery system development with the R&D team to ensure all the technical deliverables can be implemented on a system level (design, integration, HW, SW) based on the customer requirements and internal project milestones. Build brand recognition by showcasing technological achievements at scientific/industry conferences and customer reporting. Manage or mentor a team of engineers, interns, or technicians.
Minimum Qualifications: Education: Master – Materials Science and Engineering or a related field of study; will accept equivalent foreign degree;
Experience: Three (3) years in the position above, as a Battery Research Engineer,
Engieering Manager, Scientist or in a related battery development role;
Experience must include:
1. Researching and developing battery designs and technologies
2. Validation of batteries
3. Designing experiments, synthesizing battery materials, and assembling batteries for testing
4. Characterizing and analyzing battery materials
Location: 4355 Varsity Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48108. International travel to Germany and neighboring EU countries is required 50% of the time to manage and oversee operations, guide the development of local teams, conduct customer visits and perform market research. Remote position, work can be performed anywhere in the U.S.
