About the Role:
This position is for a Lead Engineer to design, develop, and release components and subsystems for military sight and sensor products. The areas of focus will include developing mechanisms used in sighting systems, developing various fire control sensors including Hand controllers, Gyros, Accelerometers, Periscopes, Auxiliary Sights, Muzzle Reference Sensors, and others.
As a member of the Electrical Sights and Sensors organization, we design and integrate the vehicles lethality system: guns, missiles, sights and fire control system.
This is aHybridposition within our Engineering organization. This role allows the employee to work offsite but also requires onsite work as needed.This position requires the employee to be onsite up to 80%.
Responsibilities to Anticipate for this role:
Lead Design / Test engineer, with emphasis on system and subsystem requirements analysis, development, integration, and test for functionality on all platforms. Area of interest is lethality.
Design sight and sensor components and subsystems to meet vehicle performance requirements including human factors, safety, environmental, and mine blast requirements.
Lead various projects by doing analysis and design, drawing mark-ups, tolerance stacks, and generating source data for engineering changes. Write material requests and shop work orders, track delivery and stock of parts, participate in integration reviews, fit checks, and write reports.
Lead hardware and software integration in a lab environment, on turret and on vehicle to include the use of various test equipment to include dynamic analyzers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, Ethernet, RS-422/485, CANbus, etc.
Responsible for the integrated performance of Product/Capability (HW, SW, Requirements, Testing, Verification, Build, etc)
Domain area responsibility for all Cost, Schedule and Technical
Accountable, with Project Engineer, for domain area IMS including EVMS metrics and status
Ensure alignment of all System, Subsystem and Component Design artifacts for domain area
Provide leadership and direction to engineers working within their responsible domain area
Ensure effective communication and coordination among team members
Facilitate decision-making processes and resolve conflicts
ERP Lead for Domain area
Hold domain team accountable for meeting project goals and milestones
Ensure requirements are accurate and understood
Lead development of design verification plans for their products
Develop, Lead, and Maintain Technical Data Packages (TDPs) in accordance with the Engineering Release Plan (ERP) or Software Release Plan as applicable
Write technical reports according to departmental standards
Review, Understand, and Execute assigned deliverables
Organize and conduct design reviews
Lead Resolution of Technical Issues with Builds, Suppliers, and Customers
Ensure timely and effective resolution of issues to maintain project progress
Assign issues, tickets, problem reports, change requests, & change orders as appropriate to engineers on the IPT
Coordinate with other organizations, compiling input, providing status, and providing suggested course(s) of action as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (BSME)
Minimum of 8 years' experience in this area of engineering.
Experience with military vehicles, other heavy vehicle platforms.
Be a self-starter and highly motivated. Experience working on cross-functional projects and working in a shop environment is required.
Be able to excel at completing tasks with only general guidance and not direct supervision.
Be able to understand customer needs, formulate subsystem and component requirements and meet expectations.
Experience working with suppliers and our Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA), developing and auditing test requirements is desired.
ASR is needed to work inside tanks and military vehicles.
Must have good general knowledge of other related disciplines.
Must have demonstrated ability to independently develop approaches to solutions.
Great communication skills.
Strong technical writing and presentation skills is desired.
Occasional travel to field sites may be required.
Additional Information / Desired Experience
This position will require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance)
This position may require the candidate to be able to climb on/off, work in, and work around military vehicles is desired. Must be able to pass ASR test (Anthropometric Size Requirement for confined space)
Able to bring continuous improvement processes and methodologies to the position. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills is required Works well in team and individually
Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required
