Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support key accounting operations for a Contract position based in Madison Heights, Michigan. This role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, managing close activities, and ensuring the integrity of balance sheet and cash accounts. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, sound knowledge of general ledger processes, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Lead monthly close activities by preparing entries, reviewing account activity, and helping ensure deadlines are met.
Maintain the general ledger by recording financial transactions accurately and resolving posting discrepancies.
Prepare and review journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and attention to accounting standards.
Perform detailed account reconciliations to verify balances and investigate variances in a timely manner.
Complete bank reconciliations regularly and follow up on outstanding items to keep cash records current.
Analyze financial data and identify unusual trends, errors, or inconsistencies requiring correction.
Partner with internal stakeholders to gather information needed for accurate reporting and close support. Requirements - Proven experience working in a senior-level accounting role.
Strong hands-on background in month-end close processes and general ledger management.
Ability to prepare and review journal entries with a high degree of accuracy.
Experience performing account reconciliations and researching balance discrepancies.
Solid understanding of bank reconciliation procedures and cash account maintenance.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage priorities effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
