Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The operator is a member of a production team, whose role is:
- Adheres to Magna’s Group Management Guidelines to achieve the principles of Magna’s Employee Charter
- If there is a reason to believe that any equipment or physical condition of the workplace is likely to endanger the employee or co-worker, or is in contravention of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and Michigan’s Occupational Safety and Health Act (MIOSHA), notify management immediately.
- Adheres to company systems and policies (TS16949, 5S, ISO 14001, MAFACT, employee handbook ie attendance, plant standards and quality of work).
- Assists with the development of TS 16949 policies, procedures, and work instructions; enforces implementation.
- To apply Standardized Work and respect all operating instructions at workstation
- React/escalate issues or concerns
- Contribute to continuous improvement (participate in problem solving groups and in workshops)
- Has the ability to cross train/rotate job assignments (minimum knowledge of eight workstations)
- Tracks results and specific information in case of problems
- Participates in communication (Top 5, meetings), and provides all necessary information on team activities, results, problems, opportunities for improvement.
- Trains other operators and newcomers upon request, shares know-how, provides assistance if needed.
- Performs required 5S assignments regularly
- Performs other duties as conditions necessitate
We have several different assignments in Production:
SPRAY: Prepare molds so foam does not stick to the mold
INSERT: Inserts are added to mold depending on part specification
DEMOLD/CLEAN: Foam is formed, part is removed from the mold, mold is cleaned
TRIMMERS: Examine part and trim any excess foam from the part to determine necessary repairs
INSPECTION/GLUE: Complete inspection of part
REPAIR: Repairs parts from inspection deemed necessary, second inspection is completed
PACKOUT/BOX: Boxes are built, parts are sorted, counted, packed, labeled and scanned for shipment

High school degree or equivalent preferred

Experience/Special Knowledge/Skills
Minimum of six months of experience in automotive plant preferred
Prior experience working in team based environment
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Typically bends, stoops, crouches, reaches, grips, grasps and pinches on a regular basis to access material product components and equipment. Regularly moves about to coordinate work on the plant floor. Ability to lift objects weighing up to 10lbs, and push/pull up to 20 lbs. Constant standing. Overtime may be required
