Description We are looking for an experienced accounting specialist to join an investment management organization in Michigan. This role is ideal for someone who brings strong technical accounting knowledge, works independently with confidence, and contributes effectively in a collaborative environment. The position will support core accounting operations, reporting activities, and close processes while helping maintain accurate and timely financial information.
Responsibilities:
Oversee key accounting activities to ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and aligned with reporting requirements.
Prepare and review financial reports that support internal decision-making and external business needs.
Manage month-end close responsibilities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and coordination of closing timelines.
Maintain the general ledger by analyzing account activity, resolving discrepancies, and supporting overall data integrity.
Track and account for fixed assets, including additions, depreciation, and related record maintenance.
Partner with cross-functional colleagues to gather financial information, answer accounting questions, and improve workflow efficiency.
Contribute to process improvements and support accounting system-related tasks, including work involving accounting software when applicable. Requirements - Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting is required.
At least 4 years of accounting experience is required.
Hands-on experience with financial reporting is preferred.
Working knowledge of month-end close, general ledger accounting, and fixed asset accounting is preferred.
Exposure to the financial services sector is helpful, though not mandatory.
Experience using Great Plains is a plus but not required.
Proven ability to take initiative, stay motivated, and work effectively as part of a team.
