The Dynamometer Technician operates dynamometer and bench test equipment to support testing, development, and validation activities for braking systems and related components. This role sets up and runs tests, analyzes data, prepares reports, and supports prototype work while working closely with engineering and production teams. The technician works with minimal supervision, manages multiple priorities, and ensures safe, accurate, and timely completion of all test activities.
Responsibilities
Operate dynamometer and bench test machines to conduct required test procedures in accordance with established methods and standards.
Set up test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
Build up test setups and perform complete tear-downs after testing, ensuring all components are properly handled and documented.
Monitor test runs to ensure safety, accuracy, and strict adherence to test procedures and protocols.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues that arise during testing and take corrective actions to minimize downtime.
Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for test failures or unexpected test results in collaboration with engineering.
Maintain inventory of post-tested parts, new test parts, tools, and critical or spare parts for all testing-related machines.
Analyze test data to confirm accuracy and completeness, and generate final test reports using the appropriate templates.
Collaborate with the engineering team to support product development, validation, and problem-solving activities.
Operate milling and waterjet machines to support prototype activities for motorsport and related applications.
Assist production by performing quality assurance testing on parts when required.
Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas in accordance with internal 5S policies.
Arrive on time and be prepared to work each day, demonstrating reliability and strong work ethic.
Work with limited supervision, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing directions based on business needs.
Communicate effectively with team members, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination of testing activities.
Essential Skills
Experience operating dynamometer and bench test equipment in a testing environment, preferably related to automotive or braking systems.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Mechanical aptitude, including confident use of tools and basic mechanical assembly and disassembly skills.
Basic knowledge of vehicle brake systems, including hydraulic and air-actuated brake systems.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite for data entry, analysis, and report preparation.
Basic knowledge of using handheld measurement gauges for dimensional and performance checks.
Basic knowledge of operating production equipment in an industrial or laboratory setting.
Ability to work with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks and priorities.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in testing and documentation.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in a testing area with dynamometer and bench tests for automotive brakes is a strong plus.
Knowledge of PROLink software, including DynoView and RevDataPLUS, for data acquisition and analysis.
Experience operating milling and cutting machines, including waterjet equipment, is a plus.
Familiarity with motorsport applications and prototype development activities.
Comfort working in a small, hands-on environment where responsibilities may span testing, prototyping, and basic quality assurance.
Strong organizational skills to maintain inventory of test parts, tools, and spare components.
Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to adjust to changing priorities and project requirements.
Work Environment
This role is based in a small research and development facility focused on brake pad and related brake system testing, including press and hardness testing. The team consists of approximately ten people, creating a close-knit, family-oriented atmosphere where collaboration and mutual support are highly valued. The position involves independent mechanical and automotive-related work, including operating dynamometers, bench test equipment, and shop machinery such as milling and waterjet machines. The technician works closely with engineering and sales support functions, contributing prototypes and test results to guide product development and customer solutions. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, supported by an internal 5S policy that requires work areas to be kept clean and free of hazards. The role reports into the engineering leadership structure and requires consistent punctuality and readiness to work during standard operating hours.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.
