The Project Engineer at Clark Construction Co. in Lansing, MI will work on projects situated in Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants throughout the metropolitan Detroit, MI area. This individual will work directly with a Project Manager and support a project team in the management of construction projects and oversight of execution methodologies from Pre-Construction to Close-Out. Duties of this position include the monitoring of project scope, schedules, work breakdown structure, and evaluation of requests for scope, budget, or schedule changes. Project Engineer will also administer project documentation and keep it available for the Project Manager and Superintendent so that the construction process is completed to the client’s full satisfaction and at the Company’s expected levels of safety, environment protection, and profitability. In accordance with Company procedures and to ensure easy access to project documents and up to date information, Project Engineer will set up and maintain files for project management, keep project documentation up to date, and promptly complete data entry for project progress status and prepare the required profit projections. Other administrative responsibilities will include: managing submittals and requests for information (RFI) to allow on-time delivery of materials; participating in all project meetings (owners, progress, etc.); walking the project daily with the Project Manager or Superintendent and preparing daily reports supplemented by progress photos; building relationships with trade contractors; utilizing project management system software; participating in monthly Project Engineer meetings and other training sessions; prepare and process close-out documents to support the close-out of the projects as expeditiously as possible with respect to the schedule and maintaining (or exceeding) expected margin. At a minimum, the position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, and 2 years of project engineer or project coordinator experience in civil or commercial construction.
