Position Summary
Responsible for providing social work services to patients across all medical areas of the hospital, including infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Services include mental health support, crisis intervention, domestic violence, sexual assault, abuse/neglect, grief, adjustment to illness, advocacy, and substance use support.
You will partner with the multidisciplinary team to support behavior management, safety, and discharge planning, and coordinate care with internal and external agencies.

Education & Experience
-
Master’s Degree in Social Work (required)
-
LMSW or LLMSW in good standing with the State of Michigan (LMSW preferred)
-
1–2 years of healthcare or mental health experience preferred
Key Responsibilities
-
Respond to call-downs and codes (trauma, stroke, AMI, Code Blue).

Provide crisis assessment and intervention for patients and families.
-
Cover multiple units and prioritize needs based on acuity.

Complete mental health assessments and coordinate with Psychiatry.

Facilitate transfers to psychiatric facilities, substance use treatment, or community services.

Collaborate with Security, Risk, and clinical teams to reduce workplace violence using de-escalation and behavior plans.

Complete legal paperwork for involuntary psychiatric hospitalization or guardianship when required.

Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and communicate care plans clearly.

Develop discharge plans and make referrals to community agencies.

Document all assessments and interventions in the electronic medical record.

Support orientation of new MSW hires and participate in departmental improvement efforts.
