Description
We are seeking a Senior HR Generalist to provide on-site HR support for a manufacturing facility in St. Paul, MN. This role will serve as the sole HR resource at the site, supporting employees and leadership during a temporary coverage period.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on HR professional with strong experience in employee relations, performance management, and plant operations, who can operate independently while partnering closely with leadership to drive engagement, compliance, and business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary HR partner to site leadership, providing day-to-day HR guidance and support
Lead and manage employee relations matters, including investigations, coaching conversations, and conflict resolution
Support performance management processes, including coaching managers through reviews, feedback, and development planning
Partner with Talent Acquisition and hiring managers on recruiting efforts, interview support, and onboarding activities (primarily coordination and advisory)
Drive employee engagement and retention initiatives aligned with site and business goals
Monitor workforce trends (turnover, absenteeism, engagement) and recommend actionable improvements
Ensure compliance with company policies, employment laws, and affirmative action requirements
Analyze HR data and provide insights to leadership to inform decision-making
Facilitate HR-related training and communication on policies, processes, and programs
Support workforce planning, onboarding, and talent development initiatives
Additional Skills & Qualifications
This role will be highly visible and hands-on, with a typical day including:
40-50% Employee relations (manager coaching, employee concerns, investigations)
20-25% Partnership with leadership (strategy discussions, workforce planning, engagement initiatives)
10-15% Recruiting/onboarding support (interview coordination, candidate experience, onboarding execution)
10-15% HR operations (reporting, compliance, HRIS updates, documentation)
Qualifications
Required:
5+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or HR Business Partner role
Strong experience in employee relations, performance management, and employment law
Ability to work independently as the sole HR representative on-site
Excellent communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Preferred:
Experience in a manufacturing or plant environment
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
PHR or SHRM certification
Experience with HR systems such as Workday or UKG
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
