Position Summary
The Gaming and Technology Academy of Saginaw (GATA) is seeking a dedicated and innovative 7th Grade Math Teacher to join its founding team for the Fall 2026 school opening.
GATA is a technology-focused, student-centered learning environment where academics, gaming, creativity, competition, and real-world experiences are integrated to create meaningful educational opportunities. The 7th Grade Math Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging mathematics instruction that develops critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and mathematical proficiency while fostering a positive and supportive classroom environment.
The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of Michigan Academic Standards, effective instructional practices, and data-driven teaching strategies that support student growth and achievement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging mathematics lessons aligned with Michigan Academic Standards and school curriculum goals.
- Develop instructional materials and learning activities that promote active student participation and mastery of mathematical concepts.
- Utilize technology and innovative instructional practices to enhance and differentiate learning.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies based on assessment data and individual student needs.
- Provide intervention and support for students who require additional assistance mastering mathematical concepts.
- Collaborate with fellow educators to improve curriculum, instruction, and student outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress and student needs.
- Establish and communicate clear learning objectives for all instructional activities.
- Create and maintain a positive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and academic success.
- Manage student behavior through consistent implementation of classroom expectations and school policies.
- Utilize formative, summative, and interim assessments to guide instructional planning and decision-making.
- Develop assessments that effectively measure student understanding and proficiency.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and school initiatives.
Qualifications
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate mathematics endorsement(s) for the assigned grade level.
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience.
- Must meet Highly Qualified Teacher requirements as defined by applicable state and federal guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to teach mathematics curriculum and develop engaging instructional experiences.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to student achievement and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team-oriented educational environment.
