Senior Backend Software Engineer - Java & Spring Boot
Overview / Summary
We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications, APIs, and microservices. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-performing solutions for web, mobile, and enterprise applications in a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Engage with stakeholders to understand business use cases and technical requirements
Design, develop, and maintain backend applications, APIs, and microservices
Develop scalable and secure applications using Spring Boot and Java
Architect and maintain RESTful APIs
Collaborate with frontend developers and cross-functional teams including product owners, architects, and designers
Support application deployment in cloud or on-premises environments
Monitor application health, performance, resiliency, and reliability
Manage data storage and retrieval using database technologies
Implement security best practices including encryption and data protection
Promote engineering best practices including test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery
Optimize backend infrastructure and deployment processes
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
10+ years of IT experience
8+ years of software development experience
Strong proficiency in Java programming and object-oriented programming principles
Experience with Spring Boot framework
Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs
Experience with API development, including enterprise APIs
Experience designing, developing, and supporting applications on cloud platforms
Experience working with databases such as Oracle, MySQL, or MongoDB
Experience collaborating within Agile development environments
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or equivalent cloud services
Experience with Kotlin
Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipelines
Familiarity with Jira or similar Agile tools
Experience with OpenAPI Specification (OAS) standards
Strong collaboration skills working with technical teams, product managers, DevOps, UI/UX, and business stakeholders
