This position is responsible for supporting the ReStore Manager by meeting profitability objectives through the effective management of the ReStore and leadership of volunteers and staff. The Assistant Manager provides staff and volunteers with directions and feedback. This person will also support positive visibility of Otsego-Antrim Habitat for Humanity in the community. Serves customers by providing merchandise and determining donation acceptance and pricing.
Employee Status: This is an hourly, non-exempt, full-time position (30-40 hours per week depending upon the season), between the hours of 8:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. including weekends.
Specific duties include:
• Do not come to work if you are ill. Perform the daily self-screening health questionnaire and agree to have your temperature taken before entering the building.
• Follow Daily Opening and Closing Procedure Checklist.
• Meet budgets, and drives donations, sales and profits of the ReStore to further our mission
• Demonstrate and train staff in outstanding service to customers, donors, and volunteers
• Establish and maintain relationships with potential and existing donors, including individuals, businesses, community and church groups to increase quality and quantity of merchandise donations
• Effectively manage Habitat ReStore assets to ensure safety of employees, volunteers, customers and others, ensuring that licenses and other required information are maintained properly for government bodies and others as appropriate
• Address violations of policy including safety, poor job performance or misconduct in accordance to the procedure
• Properly document incidents
• Resolve situations requiring human resources in conjunction with the ReStore Director
• Resolve situations involving volunteers in consultation with the Executive Director or ReStore Director when required
• Enforce Cash Control Policies, and monitor systems for daily cash transactions and deposits
• Provide accurate accounting records of revenues and expenses as required or requested
• Approve employee recording of time worked
• Approve and submit payable invoices on a timely basis. Communicate questionable invoices to ReStore Manager and ensure expenditure is held within acceptable limits.
• Work in conjunction with the ReStore Manager to develop annual operating budgets
• Provide reports of designated activities including but not limited to sales, expenses, outreach activities and other areas of interest to the ReStore Director
• Reinforce work and safety practices with volunteers, associates, and all others who will be in the facility and property
• Keep ReStore Director informed appropriately and timely of operational and financial matters
Required Skills and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Experience in a retail environment
• Ability to work well within a team environment
• Good listening skills
• Ability to operate a cash register, count change, and use basic office equipment
• Ability to travel when necessary for training or support of the ReStore
• The ability to call on existing and potential donors to increase merchandise in the store
• Demonstrated ability in training, managing, leading and developing associates in a consistent, positive and safety conscious manner
• Basic computer skills, including spreadsheets, word processing, presentations and email
• A history of successfully adapting to rapidly changing conditions with unexpected shifts in priorities
