HIL Test Engineer - MATLAB/Simulink & ADAS Validation
Overview / Summary
We are seeking a HIL Test Engineer with experience in MATLAB/Simulink, embedded software validation, and automotive simulation environments. The role involves developing and executing Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing solutions, supporting virtual validation environments, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to improve software validation efficiency and reduce dependency on vehicle-level testing.
Key Responsibilities
Define efficient physical and virtual software validation methods by integrating plant models with controller software source code
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support timely delivery of in-house and supplier software components compatible with virtual test environments
Develop virtual test environments and test cases for simulation-based validation of hardware-dependent test scenarios
Work closely with ADAS feature and system engineering teams to resolve software-related issues
Support HIL, DIL, and VIL simulator activities to reduce dependency on vehicle-level testing
Utilize and support automation for build, test execution, data analysis, and reporting
Execute HIL testing activities, generate reports, and support test environment triage
Support Simulink model generation and execution activities
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
2+ years of HIL development and execution experience
2+ years of experience with MATLAB/Simulink tools
Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing of embedded software systems
Experience with test automation and test execution
Experience using automated test tools such as ECU-Test
Experience working with HIL and DIL simulators and deploying software on external target ECUs
Experience with Simulink model generation and execution
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
Experience with dSPACE toolchains including ControlDesk and ConfigDesk
Familiarity with Embedded Tester, ECU-Test, dSPACE, and Vector tools
Experience with Software Configuration Management systems such as Git
Experience using CI/CD pipelines including Jenkins or GitHub Actions
Experience building plant and controller models for automotive braking, steering, or suspension systems
Experience with Vehicle CAN networks
Experience with system dynamics modeling using first-principles methods
Experience using CarSim or CarMaker
