Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, provide routine preventative maintenance repairs to all hotel guestrooms, meeting rooms and hotel guest areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and repetitious preventative maintenance repairs in all hotel guestrooms.
- Check, diagnose and repair all required equipment in the hotel including, but not limited to: doors and door hardware, bathroom plumbing fixtures, telephone programming, television systems, windows, draperies and furniture.
- Complete repairs and new installation of building systems such as ceilings, walls and flooring. This includes ceiling systems like drywall, suspended grid systems and specialty finishes; wall systems of decorative panels or drywall and flooring systems including carpet, vinyl/wood flooring and porcelain, VCT or ceramic tile.
- Perform weekly inventory of parts and supplies; order as needed.
- Work with housekeeping department on weekly basis and respond to VIP check-ins.
- Follow Preventive Maintenance program and schedule set by Hotel Maintenance Management.
- Perform daily and routine work with little supervision; keep a log of daily work.
- Keep GHS sheets current for supplies being used.
- Maintain a positive and upbeat attitude and appearance. Work to ensure that special requests of guests and other departments are properly handled.
- Complete a preventative maintenance inspection of each guestroom two times per year.
- Use hand held work tools to complete assigned work such as small electrical drain snakes, volt and ohm meter, TV systems and hand held hotel room/door programming.
- Utilize computerized room reservation systems to review room availability and television programming computer system to diagnose room television system problems as needed to complete assigned work.
- Complete annual respiratory testing and mold abatement training to maintain certification for removal of mold contaminated building materials.
- Practice SECR Hospitality Rules with every internal and external guest.
- Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Five years of experience in a building maintenance or construction work environment.
- Must possess good diagnostic skills.
- Must be able to pass background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with skill trades.
License, Certification, or Special Requirements:
- Must have a valid Michigan Driver`s License and must be able to obtain and maintain a Tribal Driver`s License and qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier.
- Native American preference shall apply to all positions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of use of maintenance tools, chemicals, cleaners, and disinfectants.
- Knowledge of the methods and practices used in preventive maintenance and repair work.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety practices.
- Knowledge of drywall, floor/wall tile, carpentry, painting repair and installation.
- Knowledge of basic plumbing and electrical.
- Skill in the use of cleaning tools, chemicals, cleaners, and disinfectants.
- Skill in the safe operation of power tools and shop equipment.
- Skill in diagnosing and repair of equipment utilized.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with repair equipment.
- Strenuous physical exertion in climbing ladders and lifting heavy objects.
- Required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and reach with arms and hands.
- Occasionally sit, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Normal visual acuity, ability to talk and hear.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Indoors and outdoors.
- Must possess sufficient stamina to work under all types of weather conditions including extreme hot/cold and to lift, carry, push, or pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials
- Work may be performed in wet, damp and cramped or close work area.
- Exposure to chemicals and hazardous materials and moving parts may occur.
- Situations where safety equipment is needed may occur.
- Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
- Evening, overnight, holiday and/or weekend work may be required.
- Travel may be required.
- Frequent walking and standing in a smoking environment and contact with the general public. Constant visual stimulation via neon lights on slot machines, repeatedly changing machine video screens, static or flashing signs throughout the casino and constant machine and crowd noise.
