Position Overview
We are looking for a Design Release Engineer (DRE) with deep expertise in seat complete engineering. This role will be responsible for the design, development, and release of world-class seating systems and components. Additionally, the DRE ensures compliance with performance, cost, and timing objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of all seating components along with interfacing commodities such as interior cockpit, trim, restraints, body, and electrical.
Key Responsibilities:
Component Ownership:
Lead design and release of various seating components as they relate to the final seat assembly and JIT deliver
Ensure designs meet functional, aesthetic, durability, and regulatory requirements
Engineering Execution:
Lead the design & development activities according to Stellantis design practice
Ensure seat system packages correctly and integrates seamlessly within the vehicle
Manage change control through CN systems.
Supplier Interface:
Work closely with suppliers on design feasibility, resolving engineering issues, manufacturing constraints & quality initiatives
Support DFMEA, DVP&R and validation activities
Program Delivery:
Track and meet program timing, cost, and quality targets
Resolve technical issues promptly and escalate risks as needed
Support launch and plant build events
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field from an ABET-accredited university
Experience:
5+ years in automotive seating systems design, development & launch
Strong knowledge of injection molding, tooling, and material properties
Familiarity with automotive standards and validation processes
Skills:
Proficiency in Teamcenter/NX
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Experience in managing projects, including timelines and budgets
MUST HAVE excellent communication, collaboration and supplier management skills
Preferred:
Experience with GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis (RSS)
Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and lightweighting strategies
Familiar with APQP processes
