Auto Cast, Inc is looking for diecast machine operators for 1st and 2nd shift. Willing to teach the right person the necessary skills for this position, including how to troubleshoot and produce quality castings on an automated diecast cell. This position offers room to grow as you progress from being a diecast operator into a technician with wages increasing as you learn!
Overview:
A die cast operator will be responsible for operating and troubleshooting die cast machines that produce parts through an automated high pressure injection cycle. This position will be responsible for making machine adjustments, handling molten aluminum safely, lifting and moving production parts, visual inspection of parts for defects at assigned machine, as well as maintaining the cleanliness of the assigned work cell.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Able to understand and implement operator instructions, including visual and dimensional requirements
- Operate and maintain manual and automated work cells, including making needed adjustments, as well as diagnosing and completing minor repairs as needed
- Meeting production goals through maintaining required cycle times and assuring quality standards are met.
- Visually inspect parts for defects on a continuous basis to ensure quality standards are maintained.
- Give full cooperation and assistance to all other department employees, including fellow operators, technicians, die setters, leaders and supervisors. Position may be required to assist in die setting as necessary.
- Properly complete daily paperwork, including records of downtime, production counts, documenting quality concerns and cleaning logs.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment through use of general safety practices, cleaning and maintaining machines and work cells (5S), and proper of PPE at all times.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Required Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Excellent attendance is a must
- Possess good physical stamina and coordination;
- Able to bend, twist, push, pull, reach, kneel and crouch repetitiously.
- Able to ascend and descend steps, stairs and platforms
- Ability to stand for long periods of time required, up to 8-10 hours with up to 3 breaks.
- Ability to repeatedly lift 20 pounds repeatedly, and occasionally lift materials up to 50 lbs.
- Able to wear necessary PPE, including: safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, bump cap, long sleeves and steel toes safety shoes.
- Knowledge of basic math, reading and writing
- Strong attention to detail
- Basic mechanical knowledge with the ability to expand mechanical skills are critical
