Job Title: Construction Laborer
Job Description
This role involves performing demolition, cleanup, and material handling on commercial construction projects, with a strong focus on school building renovations during the summer. You will remove building components, clear debris, and maintain a clean, safe worksite while working on your feet throughout the day in physically demanding conditions.
Responsibilities
Perform demolition work inside commercial buildings, including removing walls, ceilings, floors, studs, doors, windows, and mechanical systems as directed.
Carry, load, and dispose of construction debris and materials into dumpsters throughout the workday.
Use hand tools such as shovels and brooms to collect, move, and clean up debris from work areas.
Maintain a clean and organized jobsite by regularly sweeping, shoveling, and removing waste materials.
Work safely and efficiently in hot conditions and in active construction environments.
Remain on your feet and stay productively engaged in manual labor tasks for the full shift.
Travel independently to various job sites as assigned, including multiple school projects during the summer.
Follow instructions from site leads and forepersons to complete tasks on schedule and according to safety standards.
Wear required personal protective equipment, including steel toe boots, and adhere to all site safety rules.
Essential Skills
Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day.
Proven capability to perform continuous manual labor and demolition work.
Comfort working in hot conditions and in physically demanding environments.
Ability to stand, walk, and remain on your feet for the entire work shift.
Experience using basic hand tools such as shovels and brooms.
Reliable transportation to travel to different job sites as required.
Ownership and use of steel toe boots on all job sites.
Strong work ethic with the ability to stay busy and complete tasks with minimal downtime.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience in construction, demolition, or general labor is beneficial.
Familiarity with commercial building environments and school renovation projects is an asset.
Willingness to learn and take direction from site leads to support career growth into lead or foreperson roles.
Dependable attendance and punctuality for early morning start times.

Work Environment
You will work on active commercial construction sites, with a strong focus on school projects, including a specific assignment at a high school in Lansing. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, either 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., over a project duration of approximately 4 to 6 weeks. The work takes place primarily indoors within commercial buildings undergoing demolition and renovation, often in hot conditions and dusty environments. You will use basic hand tools such as shovels and brooms, handle heavy materials, and dispose of debris in dumpsters. Steel toe boots are required as part of the jobsite attire, and you will spend most of the day on your feet performing physically demanding tasks.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
