Portage Lake Construction is looking for a General Construction Laborer who can handle a variety of tasks. Work includes site preparation, material handling, and operating machinery. The ideal candidate has some previous construction experience, works hard, and thrives in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and prepare job sites by removing debris and hazards.
- Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Safely operate small tools and machinery, including saws, drills, jackhammers, concrete mixers, and equipment such as skid steers or lifts.
- Assist with framing, concrete pouring, and installation tasks.
- Assist with excavation, forming, raking and asphalt paving.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding, temporary structures, and barricades.
- Communicate schedules and report maintenance needs to supervisor
- Operate company vehicles to move materials and travel between job sites.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with OSHA standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, with at least 1 year of previous experience in construction or equivalent training.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience operating basic power tools and small machinery.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor, to lift up to 75lbs., and to work outside in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic, punctual, good communication skills, and able to take direction well.
