Summary
The purpose of this position is to lead a maintenance department by performing routine and adhoc maintenance to a fleet of diesel trucks.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck/trailer equipment including, but not limited to the following: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Air conditioning systems, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Power steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.
Inspect to diagnose malfunctions and perform preventative maintenance on equipment
Direct and train personnel on company procedures and tractor/trailer repairs and maintenance including new hires.
Participate in the selection process when new fleet maintenance personnel are needed.
Manage part inventory and identifies and order required parts for vehicle maintenance.
Creates and maintains fleet maintenance personnel schedules in areas of responsibility.
Maintain current knowledge of regulations and perform all work in compliance with organization safety, health, and environmental policies, federal regulations and forms, to include OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
Attend weekly department meetings as required.
Rotating on call after hours.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Technical/Vocational/Associate Degree in vehicle maintenance related field.
Diesel mechanic certification preferred.
Four or more years in a lead/supervisory maintenance role or equivalent preferred.
At least two years' experience in vehicle mechanics and maintenance.
One to two years' experience in Windows based systems and programs including MS office.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Class A CDL
Ability to hold a valid DOT medical certificate
Strong mechanical/electrical/engineering aptitude.
Good troubleshooting/problem solving skills.
Must be able to prioritize and work productively in a multi-tasking environment.
Candidates that are detailed-oriented and accurate are preferred.
Ability to lead team/strong supervisory and people skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability and willingness to learn several associated jobs
Strong computer aptitude and familiarity with systems.
Bi-lingual in Spanish and English preferred
Physical Demands
Stand and walk constantly; grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 10 pounds frequently; sit, climb, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Work Environment
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and water, and chemicals. Temperature is regulated for operations standards. Cooler temperatures occur in specific areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Proper personal protective equipment will be required during certain working conditions. Employees are required to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) due to working in a food manufacturing environment (hairnets, clean clothes, etc.). Entry inside the poultry barns requires a shower in shower out program. Biosecurity and animal welfare requirements.
