This first-shift Machine Builder Electrician role focuses on the electrical assembly, wiring, and integration of custom industrial automation and manufacturing equipment. You will primarily build new systems from the ground up, including control panels and machine wiring, and occasionally travel to customer sites to support installation, startup, and final runoff of equipment. Typical start times range between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., with 8-10 hour shifts and approximately 10-15% travel.

Perform complete machine wiring, including installing and terminating field devices such as sensors, motors, and actuators on the machine frame.
Read and interpret complex electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic and hydraulic schematics to guide the build process from start to finish.
Install conduit and pull wire for industrial equipment, ensuring neat, organized, and code-compliant routing.
Conduct continuity and voltage tests to verify correct wiring, proper operation, and safety of machines before shipment.
Troubleshoot and debug electrical issues during the build and checkout phases to ensure reliable machine performance.
Assist with final installation, startup, and runoff of equipment at customer sites as needed.
Collaborate closely with mechanical builders, engineers, and other team members to ensure machines are built to specification and delivered on schedule.
Document work performed and communicate any design or wiring issues identified during the build process.
Essential Skills
At least 5 years of experience in machine wiring for industrial or automation equipment.
At least 5 years of experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
At least 5 years of experience in electrical panel building, including layout, assembly, and wiring.
Strong proficiency in electrical assembly and industrial wiring practices.
Ability to read and understand complex blueprints, electrical drawings, and pneumatic/hydraulic schematics.
Hands-on experience with conduit installation and wire pulling in an industrial environment.
Ability and willingness to travel approximately 10-15% for customer installations and startups.
Strong troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving wiring and electrical integration issues.
Ability to work independently and as part of a build team in a custom machine environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with industrial automation and custom machine building environments.
Familiarity with PLC-based control systems and related control panel components.
Comfort working from detailed layouts and build documentation in a project-based setting.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to building safe, reliable, and high-quality equipment.
Effective communication skills to coordinate with engineering, production, and customer teams.
Why Work Here?
You will join a specialized team that designs, builds, and installs custom industrial machinery, offering the chance to see projects through from concept to completed systems in the field. The work is varied and technically engaging, allowing you to deepen your expertise in industrial automation and electrical integration. The environment supports hands-on craftsmanship, problem-solving, and collaboration, providing opportunities to work on unique projects rather than repetitive production tasks.
Work Environment
You will work in a custom machine build shop focused on the design, build, and installation of industrial automation and manufacturing equipment. The role is first shift, with start times typically between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. and 8-10 hour workdays. The setting is a hands-on, industrial environment where you will work around machinery, electrical panels, conduit, wiring, and assembly tools.
