General Purpose
The Agriscience Barn Manager provides essential support to the Agriscience program. This position is responsible for the daily operation and management of the program facilities to ensure a safe, clean, and professional environment for staff and students.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 2–3 years of professional experience in livestock management or a related agricultural field.
- Associate’s degree in animal science, agriculture education, or related field (preferred).
- Demonstrated knowledge of animal husbandry, facility operations, and agricultural safety practices.
- Knowledge of the tools, equipment, tasks and safety procedures used in the program.
- Proficiency with basic technology tools (Microsoft Office / Google Workspace).
- Ability to obtain or willingness to pursue CDL, pesticide applicator, or veterinary-related certifications (preferred).
- Physically capable of performing the necessary job duties.
- Solid organizational and planning skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work as a member of a team and contribute to the agency’s vision and goals.
- Able to demonstrate confidentiality in all matters.
- Positive leadership skills.
- Must complete and pass required criminal history check.
Essential Duties (shall include, but are not limited to the following):
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Oversee daily feeding, watering, and care of all livestock.
- Monitor animal health and administer basic treatments as directed.
- Maintain accurate records for animal health, breeding, and inventory under the advisement of Agriscience Instructor.
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and compliance of barn, hoop house, greenhouse and general equipment.
- Support purchasing and inventory of feed, bedding, and supplies.
- Maintain safety standards, including MSDS documentation and biosecurity protocols.
- Prepare and maintain facilities as necessary for student learning activities.
- Drive and operate equipment including tractors, implements and livestock trailers.
Other Duties
- Assist with special events, field trips, and program-related activities as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the instructor or administration.
- Ability and interest to assist in managing projects during busy seasons (i.e. calving/farrowing, plant sales, etc.) and during non-school hours (over breaks, summers, weekends, etc.).

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- Program setting includes both general school building/classroom and outdoor facilities including livestock barn, greenhouses, and other various outdoor areas. Responsibilities will include working in outdoor settings during extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain/snow, etc.). The noise level in the position varies.
Terms of Employment
- Hourly/at-will employee (non-exempt under FLSA regulations)
- 12 month position; 30-35 hours per week
- Position covered under administrative regulations/individual agreement
