Lake County is seeking to hire a motivated individual to work in the Equalization Department on a part-time basis as an Equalization Clerk. This position will average 24 hours per week.
The Equalization Clerk is responsible for assisting in responding to public inquiries regarding assessment records and processes. The position enters sales data and processes recorded documents into computer databases, including posting changes in property descriptions, owner names, and addresses; and prints reports, notices, and rolls from database. The position also provides information concerning property descriptions and locations, assessed values, and ownership to citizens, township officials, banks, title insurance companies, and other parties. Performance of related general office duties is also expected.
EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Preferred advanced coursework in legal descriptions and assessments.
Experience: Minimum one to two years’ experience in a governmental and/or office environment. Preferred two years’ experience in mapping, equalization, and/or assessing and demonstrated experience in a governmental and/or public environment that involves appraisals, legal descriptions and maps. Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel at a minimum.
Certifications and/or Licenses: Current and valid State of Michigan driver’s license. Currently possess a Michigan Certified Assessing Technician (MCAT) is preferred, or the ability to obtain within 1 year after hire.
