We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Program Evaluation Specialist to join our team and play a crucial role in enhancing the effectiveness of the Michigan Promise programs within the Department of Surgery. This role is responsible for developing, executing, and managing evaluation processes, including data collection, analysis, and reporting. The Program Evaluation Specialist will assess the impact of existing programs, provide actionable recommendations for improvement, and support the planning and implementation of future initiatives.
In addition to evaluation efforts, this position will support broader program development, research activities, and operational initiatives aligned with Michigan Promise. The successful candidate will work closely with departmental leadership, faculty, and external partners to ensure initiatives are data-driven, well-coordinated, and aligned with strategic priorities.
This position will report directly to the Program Manager of Michigan Promise programming.
(60%) Program Evaluation
Support the evaluation and research priorities of the Michigan Promise, advancing initiatives that promote excellence in clinical care, education, and professional development, including but not limited to:
Conducting literature reviews and assisting in the formulation of research hypotheses and methodologies
Collecting and managing data, establishing efficient data systems, and ensuring accuracy, integrity, and security
Designing and managing surveys (e.g., Qualtrics), including development, distribution, and analysis
Analyzing and interpreting data to identify patterns, themes, and trends to provide recommendations for program improvement
Preparing reports, dashboards, and presentations to share findings with departmental leadership and stakeholders
Supporting IRB submissions and ongoing regulatory compliance for research-related activities
Contributing to research reports, manuscripts, and presentations for academic and professional audiences
Collaborating with faculty, researchers, and institutional partners to support data collection and integrate insights into broader research efforts
(40%) Program Management
Support the development, implementation, and execution of Michigan Promise initiatives in coordination with program leadership, including but not limited to:
Assisting in the implementation and coordination of program activities aligned with departmental and Michigan Promise priorities
Supporting logistics and execution of program events, including workshops, seminars, and meetings
Preparing materials, summaries, and presentations for leadership to support decision-making and program oversight
Drafting and distributing communications to keep stakeholders informed and engaged
Maintaining project timelines, tracking deliverables, and supporting overall program organization
Coordinating with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment and follow-through on program activities
Assisting in the development and refinement of processes to improve program efficiency and effectiveness
Providing ad hoc administrative and operational support to the Department of Surgery Education Office to ensure coordination and continuity of educational initiatives
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Proven experience in qualitative research, including data collection, analysis, and reporting, as well as program management
