Role: Business Intelligence / Analytics Engineer
Location: Hybrid - 4 days/week onsite in SE MI
Duration: Long-Term Contract
Compensation: $35-$50/hr
Description:
This role is responsible for enabling intelligent business decision-making by designing and delivering robust analytics solutions. The position blends business acumen, data and analytics expertise, and technical solution architecture to produce scalable, high-quality insights.
The role partners closely with business stakeholders, data engineering, data science, and data management teams to design metrics, dashboards, and analytical solutions that drive measurable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Business Partnership & Requirements Gathering
- Build strong business partnerships through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and solution design sessions
- Translate business needs into scalable, analytics-driven solutions
Analytics Solution Development
- Own the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of:
- Business metrics
- Reports and dashboards
- Analytical models and end-user tools
- Deliver complex reports and dashboards using Power BI or Qlik Sense, ensuring performance, accuracy, and usability
Data Analysis & Modeling
- Conduct deep-dive analysis into business problems and data anomalies
- Develop recommendations focused on business improvement and technical efficiency
- Leverage SQL (preferably BigQuery), Python, and/or R for data manipulation, cleansing, and optimization
- Create and maintain data models and visual representations (process flows, data flow diagrams) to clearly define and calculate key business metrics
Advanced Visualization & Adoption
- Design and implement new metrics and techniques to improve:
- KPI effectiveness
- Metric consistency
- End-user adoption
- Identify opportunities to enhance analytics through improved visualization tools, methodologies, and emerging technologies (including AI)
Cloud & Data Platform Enablement
- Provision and manage GCP resources using Terraform
- Configure cloud data resources for cost-effective operation
- Implement and orchestrate data transformation pipelines using Dataform or Apache Airflow
Data Quality & Governance
- Implement robust data validation, error handling, and quality checks across analytical workflows
- Ensure consistency, integrity, and reliability of analytical outputs
- Partner with Data Engineering, Data Science, and Data Management teams to improve data completeness, usability, and performance
Collaboration & Documentation
- Participate in peer reviews of SQL queries, data models, and dashboard designs
- Provide constructive feedback to team members
- Produce clear documentation covering:
- Analytical processes
- Data sources
- Definitions and calculations
- Technical design documents for analytical solutions
Scalability & Optimization
- Design analytical solutions with scalability in mind to support growing data volumes
- Proactively propose improvements to existing reports and processes using AI or other emerging technologies

Experience Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in a relevant analytics, data, or BI role
