Position Summary Information
Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions
The successful candidate must demonstrate experience, skills, and commitment to fostering an environment of belonging, diversity, equity and inclusion in students, faculty and staff.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide one-on-one clinical instrumentation consultation in 3-hour increments during 4-hour clinic sessions.
Communicate with students to schedule sessions when they are treating patients requiring advanced instrumentation.
After each session, document the student’s skill level, the patient’s difficulty level, the consultation provided, and any improvements observed.
Ensure each student receives equal hours of tutoring.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Provide one-on-one clinical instrumentation consultation
- Schedule sessions with students treating patients requiring advanced instrumentation
- Document student performance, patient difficulty level, and consultation outcomes
- Track and ensure equitable distribution of tutoring hours among students
Required Qualifications
- Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) licensed in the State of Michigan
- Significant experience treating advanced periodontitis using hand instruments and ultrasonics
- Proficiency in administering local anesthesia and nitrous oxide; Michigan certification required
- Demonstrated advanced instrumentation skills meeting or exceeding Delta College program competencies
Additional Experiences Considered
- Experience in clinical instruction or supporting dental hygiene students
- Familiarity with Delta College Dental Hygiene program competencies
