Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions
The successful candidate must demonstrate experience, skills, and commitment to fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion in students, faculty and staff.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide academic assistance to developmental students in a content area (math or English) by attending class meetings of the selected course and facilitating student learning in weekly workshops. Model successful student behaviors and provide experiences that assist learning.
Assist students with study skills, test preparation, time management, methods of inquiry, and strategies for learning course content and vocabulary. Take attendance and accurately collect, maintain, and deliver data such as surveys and contact sheets in a timely manner. Meet regularly with the instructor for planning and feedback and meet with the TLC Manager as needed.
Fall, Winter, and Spring semester hours vary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Attend assigned class sessions and support instructional delivery
- Facilitate weekly student workshops
- Model effective academic behaviors and learning strategies
- Assist students with study skills, time management, and test preparation
- Support understanding of course content and vocabulary
- Track attendance and maintain accurate records
- Collect and submit required data (surveys, contact sheets, etc.)
- Meet with instructor for coordination and feedback
- Meet with TLC Manager as needed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Technology Skills
- Associate Degree in a related field with at least one year of tutoring or teaching experience
- Proficiency in course content (math or writing)
- Working knowledge of skills being taught
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Additional Experiences Considered
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- One or more years of experience tutoring or teaching Developmental Math and/or English
