Position Description:
Responsible for planning, initiating, and managing engineering operations projects. Working closely with cross functional leadership (VPs and Directors) and engineering experts to gather requirements and implementation goals. Leading and guiding the work of technical staff, data management, and centralized operations teams, serving as liaison between business and technical aspects of automotive operations. Planning project work breakdown structure, tasks, timelines, responsibilities, and assessing business implications for each milestone. Monitoring progress to assure that deadlines, standards, and cost targets are met. Interfacing with rapidly growing distributed teams within Global Engineering. Communicating status and issues with senior staff to gain alignment and support for risk mitigations. Designing short-term and long-term activities and priorities within automotive strategies. Performing research and development inputs and engaging with other functions to enable effective engineering process and tools development, portfolio and resourcing review, and Quarterly Business Review (QBR) and Annual Operating Plan processes. Leading change management across multiple international development teams. Serving as technical lead of cross-functional team to collaborate daily activities and tasks.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Management, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Program Manager – Engineering Operations (or closely related occupation) planning, initiating, executing, and managing engineering operations projects using program and resource management tools --MS Project, Smartsheets, Jama, Stages, Jira, and Confluence -- in an automotive engineering environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Engineering Management, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Program Manager – Engineering Operations (or closely related occupation) planning, initiating, executing, and managing engineering operations projects using program and resource management tools -- MS Project, Smartsheets, Jama, Stages, Jira, and Confluence -- in an automotive engineering environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
· Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) participating and implementing all aspects of the software and hardware development lifecycle and processes using ASPICE, Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies; and delivering innovative software solutions according to Agile methodologies, Cybersecurity requirements, and software development best practices, using Git, Confluence, and Jira.
· DE collaborating with sales, engineering, and product management teams to define project scope, resource allocation, and execution plans using Jira, Confluence, and Project; defining the direction for a product portfolio, and creating yearly budgets, delivery plans, and resource forecasts to provide an execution plan for development teams and a strategic guide for stakeholders, using Power BI, Confluence, and Excel.
· DE analyzing program data, metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive decision-making using program management tools -- Jira, Jama, Confluence, Power BI, Smartsheet, and Microsoft Project; and applying Lean Six Sigma in process development to enhance efficiency and quality.
· DE integrating automotive industry standards and compliance protocols (ASPICE, ISO 21434, and ISO 26262) into program planning and execution, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements throughout the product lifecycle using Stages, Product Lifecycle Management, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, and Jira.
