• Remove excess flash from micro-molded silicone
components by hand, using tools, or using a machine.
• Inspect small parts for defects using a microscope.
• Assemble various small parts of a particular product.
• Perform while seated, working for extended periods under
a microscope.
• Clean and move parts through next steps in manufacturing
processes. Clean parts using an alcohol solution. Transport
finished components to final inspection.
• Some parts may require packaging at your workstation.
• Meet hourly and daily production goals, including quotas for
the number of parts completed in a provided timeframe.
• Identify opportunities, tools, or process modifications to
expedite de-flashing process, in cooperation with process
improvement engineer and SMI leadership team.
• Follow detailed instruction procedures.
• Document work completion via paperwork and computer
entry in an ERP system
• Work in a clean lab environment (Lab coats and hair bonnets
required. No artificial nails or nail polish.)
Required Skills and Experience
• Extreme attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to sit for long periods of time
• Ability to work with your hands using tools on extremely
small components
• Experience working in a de-flashing role strongly preferred
• Experience working with silicone material strongly preferred
