Regular on-campus presence is expected for all KCC employees. Any flexible and/or hybrid work schedules are subject for review, approval, and/or change based on the needs of the College.
Position Summary
The Manager, Youth Programs and Engagement in the Lifelong Learning department provides leadership, development, and oversight of a comprehensive portfolio of youth-focused educational programs, including Bruin Youth classes, camps, workshops, and special events. This position is responsible for designing and delivering high-quality, engaging learning experiences that support student success, strengthen community connections, and advance the mission of Kellogg Community College.
This role leads all aspects of youth program operations, including program development and delivery, instructor recruitment and supervision, student and family experience, and the implementation of safety and accessibility standards. The Manager also oversees strategic outreach and engagement efforts, including marketing campaigns, digital communications, and partnership development with K-12 schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to expand program reach and participation.
The Manager utilizes data-informed decision-making to evaluate program effectiveness, manage budgets, monitor enrollment trends, and guide continuous improvement. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to build and sustain relationships, and a commitment to creating inclusive, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate environments for youth learners and their families.
Kellogg Community College is located in Battle Creek, Michigan, a community of approximately 54,000 people. Leisure activities, natural resources and learning opportunities provide a foundation for residents. Located along the I-94 interstate, Battle Creek is within 30 minutes of Kalamazoo, 60 minutes of Lansing and Grand Rapids and within three hours of Detroit, Chicago and Indianapolis.
Physical Demands
The job responsibilities are performed in an office area and presentation venues. Travel by car required. The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as independent mobility between work areas, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (8 - 45 pounds). Typically requires regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration. Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy, and may be involved in some mildly unpleasant situations.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree obtained from an accredited college or university. (At time of application, please upload unofficial transcripts showing degree and date of conferral.)
• At least one (1+) year of experience in lifelong learning, continuing education, educational programming, and/or event planning.
• Knowledge of K-12 sector and experience working with a diverse population.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel.
• Ability to track, collect, and report data accurately.
• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills, including active listening and public speaking skills.
• Ability to perform marketing and social media functions.
• Excellent customer service and collaboration skills.
Proposed Salary
According to the Kellogg Community College Hay Administrative Compensation program, the 2025-2026 annual salary range for a Manager 1 position, $63,276 to $79,098 to start.

Job Duties
Essential Function: Programming Development & Delivery
Description:
• Develop and deliver year-round Bruin Youth Programming classes and camps, including summer, after-school, and special-event offerings.
• Develop annual content for the Bruin Youth camp schedule and other youth-focused learning experiences.
• Oversee daily operational logistics such as class scheduling, instructor assignments, classroom readiness, equipment preparation, and program materials.
• Implement and monitor safety protocols, youth supervision standards, emergency procedures, and accessibility requirements.
• Evaluate program effectiveness using participant feedback, parent/guardian surveys, instructor input, enrollment analysis, and outcome assessments.
• Collaborate in the design and delivery of additional Lifelong Learning programs and community education initiatives.
