Serenity House was established in 2015 as a Recovery Community Organization (RCO). Serenity House's mission is to advocate for people in recovery and provide holistic options for those recovering from substance use disorder, co dependency & trauma. The Rides for Recovery DRIVER is a person with lived experience recovering from a substance use disorder, co dependency and/or trauma. This position will work as a team member in a community setting that serves all members through support, coaching, and solution planning. The Rides for Recovery Driver will provide and maintain a supportive, hopeful, empathic, and engaging environment for individuals seeking help. As a member of the team, this position will provide driving services with the opportunity to provide recovery coaching to people to help participants create a healthier way life. The right candidate for this position has a strong self-care practice in place and is in a stable position to provide safe driving services and stability for participants in the program. This position is 40 hours per week. Tuesday through Friday 10:00 am - 7:00 pm, and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. A chauffeur driver license, will be required, SHC will help obtain one for the right candidate.
Job Responsibilities:
- Majority of time will be to transport clients to and from meetings, groups, treatment, detox, etc.
- Driver's main duty is to drive throughout the course of the work day, though opportunities may exist to provide peer recovery coaching.
- Potential one on one coaching and support to those in need
- Respond as needed to referrals from community stakeholders
- Participate in staff, community and program meetings
- Work regularly with law enforcement and community partners
- Participate in regular clinical supervision
- Collect date and complete reports in a timely manner
- Provide community presentations of the project
- Participate in trainings
Qualifications:
- maintain long-term stable recovery
- have at least two years of sustained recovery
- be willing to publicly self- identify as being in recovery from substance use disorder, co dependency, or trauma
- be willing to share his/her own story of recovery as an inspiration to others
- be able to obtain and maintain state certification
- should be able to take direction, be prompt, take initiative, complete tasks as assigned, and be able to work effectively as part of a team that includes community stakeholders
- should be articulate, and have good communication skills
- agrees to adhere to the Code of Ethics and Live by SHC's Core Values
- should have at minimum a basic understanding of: The concept of recovery as it relates to behavioral health and peer support wellness and recovery planning
- Complete and pass the MDHHS peer recovery coaching training, Trauma Informed Care training, ACES training, one holistic modality approved by Program Coordinator, Substance use disorder communicable disease level 1 training, The basics of confidentiality of alcohol and other drug treatments, and Recipient Rights for substance use disorder services.
- Have good computer skills such as: Word, Excel, Outlook, Video conferencing (Zoom)
- Access to high-speed internet away from the office
- Travel will be required for this position.
- Recovery Coach must have a reliable vehicle
- Valid driver's license with the ability to transport participants (Class A CDL license)
- Submit to and pass a drug test prior to employment
- Submit to and pass random drug and alcohol testing
- Submit to and pass a law enforcement background check
- Maintain law enforcement access clearance
RELATED JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Assist with maintaining inventory of supplies
- Adhere to established Quality Improvement Indicators
- Participate in training and orientation of new staff and interns
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE OF:

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED
- Certified Peer Recovery Coach preferably MDHHS but will take CCAR
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- 1+ year experience working with people with disabilities
