GENERAL SUMMARY:
The UME Curriculum Consultant is responsible for leading educational initiatives associated with Undergraduate Medical Education (UME). This position works with faculty to design, implement, and evaluate curriculum to support the development of medical students into physicians. The consultant curates ongoing professional development opportunities for faculty and staff, including consultation to ensure alignment with best educational practices and COCA and LCME accreditation standards. The position serves as an academic leader within UME to promote and participate in scholarly activity by facilitating research opportunities for staff, faculty, and students with the intent of presentation and publication. In addition, the position uses a variety of internal and external data sources to develop and maintain systems for tracking educational metrics. Employing sophisticated data analysis, the consultant extracts and transforms data to generate actionable insights and present compelling reports to stakeholders. Requiring exceptional analytical and organizational skills, the position utilizes best practice LEAN workflows, reflection toward continuous improvement, and critical thinking to maximize the timely implementation of programming and establishing/improving procedure. Performs additional duties as assigned. The UME Curriculum Consultant reports to the Administrative Director of Undergraduate Medical Education.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Lead educational initiatives associated with Undergraduate Medical Education (UME).
· Collaborate with faculty to design, implement, and evaluate curriculum for medical students.
· Ensure curriculum alignment with best educational practices and COCA and LCME accreditation standards through consultation and guidance.
· Curate and support ongoing professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.
· Serve as an academic leader within UME, promoting and participating in scholarly activity.
· Facilitate research opportunities for staff, faculty, and students with the intent of presentation and publication.
· Develop and maintain systems to track educational metrics using internal and external data sources.
· Extract, transform, and analyze data to generate actionable insights related to educational outcomes.
· Prepare and present data-driven reports to stakeholders.
· Apply LEAN workflows, continuous improvement principles, and critical thinking to optimize program implementation and improve procedures.
· Manage work using strong analytical and organizational skills to support timely delivery of educational programming.
· Perform additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Master's degree in education, public health, or related field.
Five (5) years of experience in an educational or healthcare setting.
Demonstrated leadership and expertise in the areas of curriculum, assessment, and project management.
Demonstrates strong knowledge and skills in computer analytics and presentation (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint) with a focus on data management and analysis.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
· Requires the following to be completed after hire, in a timely manner and at the discretion of the Administrative Director: Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) and LEAN training.
· Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards and behaviors as outlined in the Henry Ford Health Customer Service Policy
· Must practice the customer skills as provided through on-going training and in-services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office environment with minimal exposure to noise, dust, or extreme temperatures.
