What to Expect
This position will work as a member of Tesla's Engineering Test Team to support Semi commercial vehicle level testing for Reliability and Durability tests performed in-house and at external test labs. The primary responsibility of this role is to collaborate directly with engineering teams in executing vehicle level tests at various proving grounds. The successful candidate for this position must have a broad background in automotive maintenance and testing.
This position is fully on-site in New Carlisle, Indiana.
What You'll Do
Collaborate with test engineers & technicians in vehicle test execution including, but not limited to, test setup, inspections, diagnosis, part retrofits and driving
Communicate directly to various engineering teams in status updates and problem solving using various methods (e.g. Email, MS Teams, JIRA)
Support various teams within the engineering organization where priorities is required
General shop maintenance & upkeep
Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Time Management: Independently manage your time to successfully complete parallel assignments, ensuring efficient use of resources and meeting project deadlines
What You'll Bring
5+ years in automotive service industrywith Technical/automotive ASE (or equivalent) certification
Advanced diagnosing capabilitieson electric/hybrid vehicles, NVH, low/high voltage, CAN communication, and use of meters, oscilloscopes, and hi-pot
Ability to lift 50lbs.
In-depth understandingof full vehicle systems: Chassis, Suspension, Powertrain, Low/High voltage electronics, Closures, Air conditioning, and Body controls
Proficiency in MS Office tools(Excel, PowerPoint) and Tesla systems (e.g., Jira) for communication and reporting
Ability to prioritize tasksunder tight deadlines and maintain strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skillsand flexibility to work long hours/weekends as required
15% U.S. travelcommitment and ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) if not already held
Preferred:3+ years of engineering prototype/product validation experience, experience with vehicle/controller firmware development and diagnosis
Preferred:Basic fabrication skills (bandsaws, drill press, mig/tig welding) and instrumentation knowledge (accelerometers, thermocouples, strain gauges)
