DESCRIPTION
This role is primarily responsible for driving new business growth for Anchor Bay Powder Coat through proactive prospecting, opportunity development, and strategic customer engagement. The position focuses on identifying, qualifying, and securing new customers and new programs that align with the company’s technical capabilities, capacity, and growth objectives.
The Business Development Manager serves as the front end of the business development pipeline, working closely with internal leadership, operations, and quality teams to ensure new opportunities are commercially viable and operationally executable. While this role may support existing customer expansion as needed, the primary emphasis is on net-new revenue generation and long-term customer acquisition.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify, prospect, and develop new business opportunities, including prospective customers, dormant accounts, and new programs that generate net-new revenue
Develop and execute outreach and engagement strategies to build and sustain a strong new business pipeline
Qualify opportunities to ensure technical feasibility, capacity alignment, and profitability prior to quoting
Maintain accurate and timely records of sales opportunities, proposals, and pipeline activity using existing internal tools and reporting methods
Actively follow up on quotes and advance opportunities through the sales funnel
Report regularly on pipeline status, new business activity, and forecasted revenue
Conduct customer meetings, plant tours, and on-site visits to understand customer requirements and application needs
Maintain a working understanding of powder coating processes, specifications, and quality requirements to support effective opportunity qualification
Act as the voice of the customer during the business development phase, ensuring customer requirements related to quality, timing, pricing, and communication are clearly understood internally
Support commercial onboarding and ensure customer requirements are documented and communicated prior to production launch
Identify and evaluate potential growth opportunities, services, or process enhancements that support customer needs and company expansion
Support continuous improvement of the business development and quoting process
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in business development within a manufacturing or industrial environment and the ability to build new customer relationships while aligning opportunities with operational capabilities. This individual must be highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working cross-functionally to convert qualified opportunities into successful, long-term business.
OTHER EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
3 to 7 years of experience in business development, sales engineering, account management, or a related role within a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
Demonstrated experience developing new customer relationships and securing new business opportunities
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage customers at multiple levels
Demonstrated track record of working collaboratively within cross-functional teams and leveraging collective knowledge to achieve shared business goals
Ability to communicate technical and operational concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
Required to maintain strict confidentiality regarding company, customer, and pricing information in accordance with company policies
Highly organized with strong time-management and prioritization skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Results-oriented with a focus on long-term, sustainable growth
Ability to multitask and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced production environment
WORKING CONDITIONS
Position is based at Anchor Bay Powder Coat with significant travel requirements, approximately 75% travel and 25% on-site presence

Travel includes customer visits, prospect meetings, and on-site evaluations
Requires a valid driver’s license and ability to travel by car
