Job Title: Senior Structural Engineer (Hybrid)
Job Description
Join our Water Resources Team as a Senior Structural Engineer to improve infrastructure in our Detroit office. We seek a self-motivated individual with excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills. While the ideal candidate will be based in Detroit, opportunities exist in our offices located in Ohio, PA, TX, FL, GA, and NC. The role requires attendance in an office 2-3 days a week.
Responsibilities
Perform structural analysis and design of heavy civil and underground structures such as concrete storage tanks, wastewater treatment facilities, tunnels, and drop shafts.
Provide technical planning, design, and construction support on various wet weather projects, including combined sewer overflow and pump stations.
Design using materials such as reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, steel, aluminum, masonry, and FRP.
Prepare engineering calculations and support analysis of alternatives.
Prepare structural-related construction plans and technical specifications.
Utilize various design software for structural analysis.
Conduct research and development for projects.
Function as a Task Manager to assist the Project Manager.
Coordinate structural design with Senior Engineers and Project Managers.
Collaborate with multi-discipline engineering teams.
Prepare design cost estimates and monitor task budget and progress.
Conduct on-site inspections as needed.
Prepare and review scope, budget, and schedule for project tasks.
Attend meetings such as pre-design, plan review, and pre-construction.
Assist with proposals, marketing, project reports, and technical presentations.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
EIT certification and the ability to obtain a PE within a year.
7+ years of experience in structural engineering.
Foundation experience including mat foundations, driven piles, auger-cast piles, caissons, and soil/rock anchors.
Proficiency in ACI 350, ACI 318, AISC Steel Manual, and International Building Code.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
Experience with structural and foundation design software.
Strong technical writing, organizational, and communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with soil and rock mechanics.
Experience working in a Water Resources department or on related projects.
PE license in Michigan is a plus.
Work Environment
Our firm offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule, with team members working in the office at least two days a week. Expect a 40-45 hour workweek, Monday through Friday. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
