People's Express is seeking a community-focused and performance-driven Oakland Program Coordinator who will work on the ground with local communities to support a transportation program serving communities across Oakland County. About the Role
The Oakland Program Coordinator serves as a key connector across community partners, operations, and leadership, working directly with communities to strengthen program presence, build relationships, and support how the service shows up day-to-day.
This role combines program oversight, stakeholder engagement, and performance monitoring, with a focus on maintaining visibility into program performance, identifying issues early, and supporting effective service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Program Performance Monitoring
· Monitor ridership trends and utilization patterns
· Review service performance indicators and rider feedback
· Monitor program performance using the Oakland Program Performance Dashboard and related indicators
· Identify emerging issues or opportunities affecting program performance
· Provide leadership with insights on program trends and risks
· Provide ridership projections and program performance insights to support annual budgeting and planning discussions
Stakeholder Relationships and Communication
· Maintain relationships with township officials, community partners, and regional transit partners
· Ensure proactive communication regarding program performance, service updates, and emerging issues
· Support township commissioners with accurate and timely program information
· Maintain strong working relationships with Oakland Transit, SMART, and other regional partners
Outreach and Program Awareness
· Coordinate outreach events and community presentations
· Identify opportunities to increase program awareness and participation
· Support communication efforts that clearly reflect the program's value to participating communities
Operational Collaboration
· Work in collaboration with Operations leadership to review service performance and support service improvements
· Share rider feedback, performance trends, and service observations with Operations leadership
· Participate in regular Program Performance Review Meetings with Operations leadership to review ridership trends, service reliability indicators, and emerging concerns
· Coordinate communication between program stakeholders and Operations leadership
· Help ensure alignment between operational decisions and program expectations by providing context from both stakeholder and performance perspectives
· Operations leadership retains authority over service delivery. The Coordinator provides recommendations and program insight to support operational and program decisions.
Program Coordination and Reporting
· Ensure all required program reports and documentation are accurate, complete, and delivered on time
· Maintain accountability for reporting timelines, proactively identifying and addressing risks to deadlines
· Ensure compliance with reporting requirements and expectations
· Maintain organized program records and reference materials
Team Supervision
· Supervise the Oakland Program Assistant
· Provide direction on data preparation and reporting support
· Coordinate administrative and program support tasks
· Ensure reporting and documentation are accurate, complete, and delivered on time
Qualifications
Education
· Associate degree required. Bachelor's degree in public administration, transportation planning, business administration, communications, or a related field preferred.
Experience
· Two to three years of experience in program coordination, community outreach, public administration, transportation services, or a related field preferred. Candidates with strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills may be considered even if they do not have the full preferred experience.

Work Environment
This position is on site office-based with periodic travel for community meetings, outreach events, and partner coordination within Oakland County. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required to support community engagement activities.
