- High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- State of Michigan residential builder’s license or completion of Detroit Carpentry Joint Apprentice School with journeyman card.
- Furnish proof of at least six years continuous full-time experience in the carpentry trade at the journeyman level in commercial buildings.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the carpentry trade.
- Experience in layout, print reading, construction techniques and knowledge of construction techniques and knowledge of construction materials and applications.
- Thorough knowledge of materials, methods, tools, and equipment of the structural maintenance trade.
- Valid vehicle operator’s license and a driving record acceptable for coverage by the university’s insurance carrier.
