Michigan Works! Region 7B is seeking a full-time Youth Career Advisor -USDOL Apprenticeship to support our current schools, the Youth and the Michigan Works! Region 7B team. The Youth Career Advisor role will cover Clare and Roscommon counties for Michigan Works! Region 7B staff.
The Youth Career Advisor presents an opportunity to connect with Youth Program participants to support and inspire youth to build a career pathway that supports their career goals. Successful candidates will have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, a Community Health Worker, or five years prior experience working with youth in an environment that connects and supports youth growth.
To be successful in this role, the candidate must have a passion for helping others, be able to build strong relationships with youth and collaborate across partnerships. They must also be enthusiastic, have good computer skills, awareness of local resources, and be able to work as part of a team. The Youth Career Advisor will meet youth where they are, develop rapport, assist youth with the development of a vocational career plan, identify key steps to achieve positive outcomes. Other duties include: recruiting participants for the program, completing intake requirements, providing learning lab instruction, the coordination of work based learning experiences, and documentation of individualized program plans and outcomes for each participant. The Youth Career Advisor will also serve as a liaison between the participant, school, parent or guardian, and Michigan Works!. The Youth Career Advisor will report to the Area Manager.
