Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented SVP, Surface Transportation Leader for immediate employment flexible on location. This position can be based in any AECOM office. The SVP, Surface Transportation Leader works in continuing collaboration with geographies globally with additional focus on North America. This SVP, Surface Transportation Leader can be located anywhere in the US, be based out of an US AECOM office and be willing to travel as needed.
Major categories of job responsibilities include:
Leadership and Strategic Direction
Articulate vision for surface transportation within AECOM, with key clients and across the surface transportation (departments of transportation, highways, federal highway/transportation administration, tolling authorities) community
Provide industry leadership; be thought leader on all matters surface transportation, particularly with outside parties
Champion surface transportation in collaboration with other business lines and various geographies
Understand and frame surface transportation trends and new market directions including next generation operations, automation and connectivity, user fees and payment systems, as well as decarbonization and new asset management systems.
Business Development
In partnership with regions, support and drive preparation of action plans for top 20 - 25 surface transportation regions/agencies
Play leadership role on key major opportunities (roll up sleeves and get the right things done!)
Management
Collaborate with the surface transportation leads in each of the regions
Collaborate/ or direct key technical practice leaders including Complex Bridge and North America Tunnels
Collaborate with Transportation Innovation leaders including Automated and Connected, Decarbonization
Identify key project managers for priority opportunities/projects, in consultation with Regional Business Line Leaders and Regional Executives
The SVP Surface Transportation Leader works with the Global Surface Transportation and Mobility Innovation Lead and in collaboration with the Business Transformation and Technical Practices Lead (i.e. Intelligent Transportation Systems/Traffic Management Center Leads) and the Global Transportation Business Leader and is accountable for:
Client satisfaction
Market sector and client intelligence and market research
Creating the unique value proposition for the market sector that creates differentiation and preference for AECOM in the market sector
Ensuring the operations can deliver against the market sector business plan - supply/demand shaping, continuity and consistency of service delivery
BD spend and directing bid and proposal funds to drive growth
Key metrics oversight
Workforce shaping: mentor staff, business line leaders, staff professional development
Strategy for driving the growth in the sector
Key resource for supporting clients in navigating funding opportunities and requirements
Authority to:
Collaborate in directing market sector, investments: B&P for major pursuits, key hires/bench, market research, trade shows/positioning, etc.
Implement strategic pursuits: GNG, staffing, pricing, etc.
Implement strategy
Implement resource changes to satisfy the needs of the market sector and clients across the life cycle of the program/project/client
Clients:
Leads strategic planning (& implementation) for the market sector
High profile in the market - Conference speaking/driving market related thought leadership
Lead and support major pursuits for the market sector
Develop market sector intelligence/research (industry assessments, trends etc.)
Lead client relationship/business development activities
Develop and lead market sector related client-focused strategy
Excellence:
Provide leadership to BD leads and account managers in developing win strategies, go/no go plans and closing sales
Identifies skill gaps and works with practice leaders to bring in key hires
Ensure appropriate market sector and Geo/Region specific market sector leadership
Collaborate, mentor and support surface transportation clients, Client Account Managers (CAMs) and CAM teams
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering (or related field) plus extensive or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 6 years of leadership.
15+ years progressive experience specializing in the surface transportation sector
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of leadership experience
Extensive existing client relationships as well as a strong market profile are essential
Ability to develop key and trusted client relationships that can lead to new business
Commercial acumen, delivering complex and demanding solutions to our clients
Superior interpersonal skills including relationship building and communication at all levels and work collaboratively across the organization; listening to other points of view while still being persuasive
Demonstrable teambuilding and influencing skills; unquestioned integrity; and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address major client needs and challenges
Collaborator and mentor
Recognized leader in the industry

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $300000 to $350000.
