Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Norton Shores, Michigan. In this role, you will manage various accounting tasks, including financial statement preparation, reconciliations, and month-end close processes. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial health and operational efficiency of our organization.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and reconcile daily bank deposits while ensuring accurate application of payments to customer accounts.
Handle credit card transactions and manage communication with customers regarding overdue balances or statement requests.
Generate and distribute daily invoices, update shipment tracking information, and maintain organized records.
Post customer invoices to designated portals and ensure timely processing of accounts payable invoices.
Conduct monthly commission report preparation and distribution to external agents.
Perform reconciliations for accounts, journal entries, and financial statements to ensure accuracy.
Assist in audit preparation, including compiling necessary documentation and ensuring compliance.
Collect, sort, and distribute mail on a daily basis.
Run errands to the bank and complete other tasks as assigned by the Controller or Business President. Requirements - Proven experience in month-end close processes and general ledger management.
Strong proficiency in creating and managing journal entries.
Demonstrated ability to perform account and bank reconciliations with precision.
Solid understanding of financial statement preparation and audit procedures.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication skills for interacting with customers and internal teams.
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Previous experience in a similar accounting role is highly preferred.
