Smith LawnScapes is a family-oriented landscape construction and maintenance company serving the Greater Lansing area for over 20 years. We're a true one-stop shop, handling landscaping, hardscaping, excavating, lawn applications, lawn installs, irrigation, and full snow management services in-house. We're looking for a Landscape Crew Lead to support our construction and maintenance teams by operating equipment safely, assisting with installs, and keeping job sites running smoothly. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in equipment care, wants to grow within a stable company and enjoy hands-on outdoor work.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate landscape and construction equipment (skid steer, mini excavator, loaders, compactors, etc.)
- Assist with landscape construction, perform maintenance and plant installs, grading, and site prep
- Load, unload, and transport materials and equipment
- Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
- Follow job plans, safety procedures, and quality standards
- Work closely with Crew Leaders and other team members
- Support snow removal operations during the winter months
Qualifications
- Experience operating landscape or construction equipment preferred (training available)
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, bend, kneel, and perform physical labor
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required)
- CDL or Chauffeur's License is a plus (or willingness to obtain)
