Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Plant Engineering Process Coach to join our team. This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a unionized workforce effectively. The ideal candidate will have a background in engineering or management, with experience in the automotive industry.
Responsibilities
Work independently with limited supervision.
Assign work to unionized hourly workforce and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and throughput processes.
Demonstrate strong organizational and administrative skills.
Manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Exhibit strong problem-solving and conflict leadership skills.
Demonstrate leadership through interpersonal, team-building, and communication skills.
Understand and apply standard manufacturing operating systems.
Ensure safe, efficient, and quality production line operations.
Build Team Leader and Team Member capabilities.
Create a conducive work environment for team task completion.
Administer supervisory responsibilities and documents.
Assign trades and engineering resources to maintain continuous equipment operation.
Participate in meetings to address equipment failures.
Identify spare parts and preventive maintenance plans for new equipment.
Promote organizational improvement towards product quality and competitiveness.
Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Coordinate resources and activities for a problem-free start-up.
Facilitate start-up and shift-to-shift meetings.
Conduct constraint analysis and coordinate bottleneck elimination activities.
Maximize equipment efficiency to enhance productivity.
Review and approve preventive maintenance activities.
Coordinate department safety improvement activities.
Drive continuous improvement and SQDCPME processes.
Essential Skills
Ability to supervise 15-20 skilled tradesmen, including electricians, millwrights, pipefitters, and machine repair specialists.
Strong electrical and mechanical experience, especially with stamping, presses, and injection mold machines.
Leadership skills to hold team members accountable and follow through on tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or in Management.
3-5 years of automotive experience.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and constraint management principles.
Safety and Quality experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Experience managing a unionized workforce.
Understanding of PLC logic and controls.
Working knowledge of FIS and production/maintenance.

Work Environment
This position is fully onsite and requires the ability to work any shift, including rotating shifts and weekends. The work environment involves direct engagement with production equipment and team members to ensure smooth operations.

This is a Contract position based out of Wayne, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $37.94 - $41.72/hr.
