Job Details

• Open and close the pool each day, depending on schedule and hours
• Monitor pool chemicals to ensure the pool is safe for bathers
• Monitor pool-related activities closely throughout shift and identify and respond accordingly to any safety issues or concerns
• Direct swimmers out of the pool in hazardous conditions
• Monitor weather reports closely to ensure safety of guests
• Provide swimming lessons
• Maintain a clean environment in and around the pool and locker rooms

• Must be at least 16 years of age, if 16-18 years old, must provide a work permit.
• Must be available to work between May - August.
• Must be Ellis Lifeguard Certified before employment will begin.
• All necessary training and expenses are provided by the City of Kalamazoo.
• All training is provided.
• Prior pool/lifeguard experience is not necessary, but preferred.
