THE ROLE
Are you a kitchen professional who loves the beach but takes high-standard service seriously? We are looking for our "First Street Anchor." While the owner manages the 5th Avenue location, you will be the on-site leader at First Street.
This is a "Player-Coach" role: you will lead the kitchen during "slammed" Saturday rushes, mentor our student staff, and ensure every Chicago Dog, Cuban Sandwich, and Cherry Chicken Wrap is served to perfection. We are looking for 2-3 reliable leads who can operate First Street independently and occasionally cover shifts at 5th Avenue to support the owner.
PAY RATE: $16.75/hr Base + Full Pooled Tips (Est. $19–$20/hr total)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Age: 18yrs+ (Required for supervisor/cash handling duties).
• Experience: Previous experience in fast-casual food prep and a history of supervisory or "lead" responsibility.
• Reliability: Must be able to commit to the full season through Labor Day.
• Certification: ServSafe preferred (or willingness to obtain).
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
• Site Ownership: Manage the "Big Three" at the First Street location: Cash Management, Inventory Tracking, and Building Security (Opening/Closing).
• The Line: Lead the preparation of our full menu with speed and accuracy, managing walk-up and online orders simultaneously.
• Staff Mentorship: Supervise and motivate student cashiers. You are responsible for keeping the team productive, focused, and off their phones during both rushes and slow periods.
• Dual-Site Support: While primarily based at First Street, you will occasionally lead operations at 5th Avenue to allow the owner to step away.
• The "Beach Reality": Navigate the "feast or famine" pace—staying calm and fast when the line is 20-deep, and staying productive (cleaning/prepping) when the beach is quiet.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Leadership: Ability to resolve conflicts, handle "hangry" customers with a smile, and direct staff firmly but fairly.
• Multi-Tasking: The ultimate ability to scoop a slushie, check a temp, and talk to a guest without missing a beat.
• Physicality: Involves standing for up to 8 hours in summer temperature conditions and lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.
