JOB SUMMARY:
The Strategic Supplier Account Specialist manages supplier relationships and purchasing activities in a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) environment. The role ensures CBP/FTZ compliance, executes day-to-day procurement, and supports strategic sourcing to maintain uninterrupted operations and maximize FTZ benefits.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as primary point of contact (POC) for strategic suppliers operating within the Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ).
- Ensure CBP/FTZ compliance and maintain required FTZ import/export and inventory records.
- Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery, cost) and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Create and manage purchase orders, releases, and blanket orders.
- Coordinate nonconforming material issues and track supplier corrective actions.
- Resolve vendor invoice discrepancies.
- Review requisitions, MRP signals, open orders/back-orders, and vendor acknowledgments; update the system as needed.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels based on management direction.
- Provide order status updates and expedite as needed, communicating shortages, priorities, and delivery changes.
- Coordinate with Receiving to ensure timely product flow and resolve issues in real time.
- Support the manufacturing floor with responsive internal customer service.
- Escalate extraordinary inventory/demand issues to the Supply Chain & FTZ Compliance Manager and support resolution.
- Quote and evaluate multiple suppliers to achieve the lowest overall landed cost for goods and services.
- Update Purchasing/FEDCO system data daily (or as required), including pricing, UOP, delivery dates, and vendor order numbers.
- Support new product launches, ECNs, and supply chain projects as required.
- Maintain compliance with purchasing policies and support required reporting and cost-savings tracking.
- Travel up to 10% annually. Both domestic and international travel may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in Purchasing/Business or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of purchasing or materials management experience.
- APICS/CPIM certification a plus.
- ERP system experience.
- FTZ or customs-regulation experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of Six Sigma/Lean/continuous improvement and BOMs.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints a plus.
- Proficient with MS Office (Windows, Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Strong follow-through in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- May lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
