POSITION TITLE: Industrial Engineer - Product Quality Development

JOB SITE LOCATION: 2336 E High Street, Jackson, MI 49203
DUTIES: Develop, improve, and maintain Quality Management System for ISO 9001:2015 certification. Collaborate and work along with process engineering to improve product quality with a robust Magnesium thixotropic injection molding process (Thixo-molding technology). Work as a liaison between MMP’s engineering team, clients, and suppliers for product quality development, production specifications, and project status for production launch. Participate in design for manufacturing (DFM) and collaborate with design engineering team to develop and optimize product design in compatibility with Thixo-molding technology and design guidelines. Collaborate with production engineer to design, develop and implement process flow for production to optimize Thixo-molding process, perform technical analysis of mold tool design, analyze throughput, and generate process qualification reports. Collaborate to conduct design of experiments (DOE) to develop a robust thixo-molding process by setting a combination of optimal process parameters to produce consistent product quality that meets customer specific requirements and NADCA standards. Analyze statistical data and product specifications for data driven decision-making, determine standards, and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished products. Evaluate precision and accuracy of testing and measuring equipment (gages) such as CMM, calipers, micrometers and keep a record of gage calibration system. Formulate acceptance sampling methods, determine sampling plan for quality determination, and develop forms for evaluation, reporting quality, and reliability data. Coordinate and implement quality control objectives and procedures to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost to quality. Develop and implement methods and procedures for inspections, test runs, and provide technical guidance to quality personnel and production team in identifying and resolving quality issues. Lead APQP and PPAP process for strategic and safe project launch and production approvals as per AIAG, AS9102, and FDA regulations. Perform statistical analysis for measurement system analysis (MSA), statistical process control (SPC), capability studies, design of experiments (DOE) and generate reports for PPAP submission and approvals. Lead failure investigations on product and process nonconformances using root cause analysis tools like 8D, 5Why, FMEA, and Fishbone diagrams. Develop, update, and maintain quality documentation, including Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) plans, and PPAP submissions. Design fixtures and gages for Co-ordinate measurement systems (CMMs) for accuracy and repeatability using AutoCAD Fusion 360 software. Program CMMs for First Article Inspections and on-going production requirements and review layout reports. Coordinate, schedule, and lead internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with relevant quality standards such as ISO 9001:2015, TS16949, AIAG standards, and others as needed. Monitor suppliers and production floor for quality control, inventory management, and supply chain requirements for product on-time delivery to clients. Establish key process indicators (KPIs) and perform overall equipment efficiency (OEE) on Thixo-molding machines to optimize Thixo molding process and improve efficiency. Interpret engineering drawings and develop inspection methods by applying GD&T principles and ASME Y14.5 standards and train technicians and inspectors on CMM inspections, attribute, and visual inspections.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Master’s Degree (or foreign academic equivalent) in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Material Science or relevant field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Two (2) years of experience in the position offered or a related field occupation. Experience must include: Experience with magnesium injection molding process (Thixomolding); experience with design for manufacturing (DFM); experience with implementing Quality Management Systems for ISO 9001:2015 standard; experience with quality engineering tools (APQP, PPAP), design of experiments (DOE), Six-sigma tools and product development; experience with failure mode analysis (FMEA) and root cause analysis for problem solving; experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing); experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) programming & operation; experience with CAD (Computer Aided Design); experience with Project Management.
