Qualifications: Completion of a Medical Assisting program from an accredited community college or accredited technical training program. BLS Certified. Pediatric experience a plus.
Essential Functions: General office duties including answering phones, receiving patients, verifying insurance, and entering data into the computerized patient information system. Clinical duties include assisting providers with direct patient care given within the outpatient medical office. Be attentive to provider instructions, patient concerns, questions and follow through.
Key Responsibilities:
- Completes all documentation including chart prep, forms, logs, etc. in a timely and complete manner.
- Ensure that treatment rooms are clean, maintain supplies and autoclaving as necessary.
- Prepares exam room, checks patients in and prepares patients for care delivered by the medical provider.
- Obtains patient history, take vital signs, EKGs, PFT’s, immunizations, assists with medical examinations, and performs laboratory work.
- Administer vision & hearing tests and pediatric development screening tests.
- Anticipates provider needs.
- Completes necessary forms for completing referrals, lab orders and prescriptions.
- Documents patient education and instruction using the EHR system in a timely & accurate manner.
- Obtains prior authorization for treatment in a timely manner.
- Collects charges from patients and provides necessary medical information to facilitate billing.
- Schedules appointments, records and reports cancellations and no shows, and confirms appointments.
- Performs callbacks, maintaining follow up, and referral system.
- Manages patient flow and schedule for assigned provider.
- Performs and follows up on CLIA waived testing according to manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned by provider or immediate supervisor, including front desk as needed.
