Summary
Michigan Technological University is seeking a Senior Office Assistant for our Testing Center. This position will proctor exams and assist with day-to-day office administration. The chosen candidate will also be expected to complete additional training allowing them to proctor for sponsored exams.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
Assist with the administration of the testing center and coordination of scheduling exams.
Accurately enter, edit, and manage data using software such as Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
Communicate effectively with instructors, students, and other Testing Center visitors in person, by phone, and by email.
Work with minimal supervision and balance multiple activities in a fast-paced environment.
Proctor paper/pencil and computerized exams for Michigan Tech courses and sponsored exam companies such as Pearson and ETS.
Address questionable candidate behavior to enforce academic integrity.
Maintain security and confidentiality of all testing materials, student information, and other confidential information.
Solve problems with consideration for the interests of multiple stakeholders.
Update documentation using Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Adobe PDF.
Maintain organized and secure digital and physical files.
Scan and score multiple choice exam bubble sheets, and report results electronically to instructors through the Remark OMR Software.
Work some evenings and/or weekends as testing needs require.
Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.
Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.
Required Education, Certifications, Licensures
- High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and
experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

The candidate will be required to complete training to proctor exams administered by Pearson and ETS. As a condition of employment, put forth by Pearson and ETS, the candidate will be ineligible to take any exams sponsored by these entities for the duration of their employment and for a waiting period of up to 1 year after their employment is complete.
Additional training will be required by the department on a periodic basis.
